About Tanpura Music School, Berlin
Tanpura Music School, Berlin is a vibrant center for learning, sharing, and celebrating the timeless traditions of Indian classical music, with a special connection to Bangladeshi and Indian heritage. Founded by musicians Apurba Biswas and Baishakhi Ghosh, the school welcomes students of all ages and cultural backgrounds—especially from Bangladeshi, Indian, and German communities—to discover the beauty, discipline, and emotional depth of this rich musical tradition.
At Tanpura, we believe that music is more than just an art form—it is a bridge between generations and cultures. For many of our students, especially children growing up in Germany, Indian classical music provides a meaningful way to stay connected to their roots, understand their cultural identity, and at the same time engage with the diverse world around them.
Our teaching approach combines the traditional guru-shishya wisdom with modern educational methods, creating a warm and inclusive space where every student’s musical journey is nurtured with care and respect.
We offer structured lessons in vocal music, harmonium, tabla, flute, sitar, and other classical instruments, along with workshops, student performances, and cultural events that celebrate the musical heritage of both India and Bangladesh. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced learner, our school is a place to explore, grow, and belong.
Our mission is to build a strong intercultural community in Berlin through music, education, and collaboration. Through our concerts and community programs, we aim to connect people, preserve cultural heritage, and inspire creativity across borders.
Join us—and let music be your bridge, your voice, and your home.
